What tournament format do we use?
We use the Double Elimination format – after the draw, players are split into pairs. Winners advance to the winners' bracket (A side), losers go to the losers' bracket (B side) where a second loss eliminates them.
The Double Elimination is followed by a classic play-off:
If a player loses one match on the A side, they are not yet eliminated and still have a chance to win. After enough rounds, both brackets reduce to two players each, who then advance to the semifinals and a classic final.

How does a match work?
Players are called to their table by the tournament director. The number of games required to win is set in advance (usually 4 or 3). After shaking hands, both players simultaneously shoot the cue ball towards the opposite cushion – the player whose ball ends closer to the near cushion may choose who breaks. Etiquette: the non-shooting player should sit down and not stand near the table or speak to the shooting player while they are aiming. Phone on silent. Fouls must be self-reported.
How long does a tournament last?
Individual matches last 20–40 minutes on average. The least successful players finish about 90 minutes after the start; the winner usually plays for around six hours.
